Sophie Frère

Sophie Frère is a member of the Karamah EU Steering Committee, providing Karamah with the language skills vital to communicating in a linguistically diverse region. Though Ms. Frère has not attended LLSP, her participation now serves as a prime example of Karamah’s expansion in the region. She graduated from the Hogeschool Antwerpen with a master’s degree in Translation, and is currently completing a master’s degree in American Studies at the University of Antwerp, with a thesis on American Muslim Women Leaders. Ms. Frère, who is fluent in French, Dutch and English and several other European languages; has been working as a translator for the past 5 years with the Belgian government agency for Foreign Aid. She is now simultaneously working on developing her own business which will focus on translation, interpretation, and cross-cultural communication.
