Karamah: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights

On August 8, 2002, KARAMAH held a networking party and fundraiser for human right advocates and lawyers in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The networking dinner provided a unique opportunity for human rights advocates and representatives from local non-profit, legal and women's organizations, to meet and interact with one another. Many area Muslim lawyers and law students joined as well. The event was a great success. Approximately 70 people from many diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds attended the event. Representatives from almost all the major human rights organizations in the DC area were present, and everyone was seen eagerly exchanging business cards and contact information. KARAMAH plans to organize more of these community and NGO outreach activities.
