Professor al-Hibri at Mosaic

On February 24, 2003, the Mosaic Foundation invited KARAMAH's president, Professor Azizah al-Hibri, to participate in a panel about Islam. The panel included two other speakers: Professor Yvonne Haddad, Georgetown University, and Hiba El-Shazli, Deputy Regional Director, National Democratic Institute. The meeting was held at Meridian House, in Washington, DC, and was attended by approximately 200 individuals from various professional backgrounds.

Professor Haddad spoke about "The Role of Women in Islam in the Twentieth Century," and Ms. Shazli spoke about "Political Leadership and Women." They were followed by Professor al-Hibri, who spoke about "Women and Legal Rights in Islam." The presentations generated many questions, and the discussion was animated and lively.
