KARAMAH,
is dedicated to the empowerment of women through education,
research and advocacy. A key goal of KARAMAH is the mentoring
and training of the next generation of Muslim women leaders.
Although young women are equally represented in law school
admissions numbers, they are often under represented in
the public policy and government spheres. This is particularly
true of Muslim Women. To remedy this problem, KARAMAH was
creating programs that will advance the role of Muslim women
as leaders in their communities.
The summer 2003 program has included a leadership training
program for KARAMAH women held at the University of Richmond,
as well as a month long course training Karamah women in
Islamic law, and Qur’anic studies on women's issues.
