On November 7, 2002, KARAMAH hosted an evening reception for
members of a delegation of women leaders from the Middle East.
The Arab women were visiting the United States as part of
a special and high profile project funded by the Department
of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (see Meridian
International Center). A few of the women from this program
spent their last evening in the U.S. at KARAMAH's headquaters
in Washington, DC.
The guests included two women from Lebanon, one woman from
Palestine, one woman from Algeria and two women from Egypt.
KARAMAH introduced the delegation to eight Muslim women
lawyers and law students living in the U.S. The guests had
an opportunity to get to know KARAMAH by interacting with
our staff, board members, interns, and volunteers. Many
of the guests expressed interest in KARAMAH's efforts and
enthusiasm for building a lasting relationship with the
organization.
