
On Tuesday, May 19, 2009, KARAMAH hosted a meeting with 10 Muslim women working in various professional and volunteer capacities in the field of community development in the United Kingdom. The talk focused on community development activities in the U.S. affecting Muslim women and immigrants, including social, educational, economic and health issues. The participants and KARAMAH’s staff expressed interest in cooperating on initiatives to educate women about their legal and religious rights in communities both in England and the U.S.
The delegation was visiting the United States on a trip sponsored by the U.S. Department of State for the program “Community Development: A Project for the United Kingdom.” Participants included:
