Abdo Sabban
Abdo came to the United States in 1976 after graduating from the American University of Beirut with a degree in Economics and only $250 in his pocket. His first job was at Berlitz Schools of languages where he eventually made it to be Director for the Washington Region.
He began a career in real estate in 1984 by joining a small firm in Arlington, Virginia. In 1987 he started AGS Realty, Inc. a real estate brokerage, management and investment firm that operated in Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland and made the BusinessWeek list of successful immigrant entrepreneurs in 2001.
In 2004 he sold the brokerage part of the company while keeping an office in Georgetown in Washington DC that specializes in property management.
He has been very involved in his community through various activities and several non-profit organizations. He was on the board of Save Lebanon, Inc. and AUB Alumni Association of North America, and president of the AUB Alumni Chapter in Washington DC for two terms from 1997-2001 where he later received the AUB Alumni Distinguished Community Service Award in 2004. He now serves as the President of the Board of the Rene Moawad Foundation-USA., and sits on the Boards of the Karamah Foundation and the American Lebanese Foundation, as well as Co-Chairing the Endowment Committee for the Center For Global Peace at the American University in Washington DC.
