Mariam A. Nawabi, Esq.
Mariam A. Nawabi is an attorney, activist, and entrepreneur and has experience in the legal, diplomatic, business, and civil society sectors. She serves as Senior Advisor to the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce and Afghanistan International Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as Strategic & Business Development Director for Afghanistan Marke\t Development.
From January 2004 to January 2006, Ms. Nawabi worked at the Embassy of Afghanistan, serving as Commercial & Trade Counsel and helped establish the first commercial service for Afghanistan in the USA. Prior to that, she was a practicing attorney at a major law firm in Washington, D.C. Ms. Nawabi also served as a member of the U.N.'s Legal Affairs Working Group for Afghanistan, and as the Coordinating Attorney for the Afghanistan Commercial Law Project since 2003. She has been actively involved in humanitarian issues for over fifteen years and currently serves on the board of several nonprofit organizations.
Ms. Nawabi is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., cum laude 1999), where she served on the editorial board of Law and Policy in International Business and of George Mason University (B.A., International Studies, summa cum laude, 1995), where she was a recipient of numerous scholarships and a White House intern.
