Irfana Anwer, Esq.

Irfana Anwer is the Co-Director of the Family Law Division at Karamah. Prior to this position, she served as the Executive Director of Karamah for the last four years. Her primary focus was on Karamah's Law and Leadership Summer Program (LLSP), as well as on developing Karamah’s Domestic Violence Prevention Initiative.

Ms. Anwer's main area of expertise is combating violence in Muslim families in order to promote peace and harmony. Ms. Anwer was instrumental in Karamah obtaining a grant from the Department of Justice to provide technical assistance to major grantees of the Department on issues of domestic violence in different American Muslim communities.

Ms. Anwer is a graduate of the University of Essex (England) law school, and a member of the New York Bar, and the Lincoln’s Inn in England.  She has an LL.M. from Boston University. Ms. Anwer has traveled extensively on behalf of Karamah, and has lectured to a diverse audience.  She has special interest in the youth, many of whom she has attracted to LLSP during her lecture tours.
